🧭 Why Visit

Seven volcanic islands off Sicily's north coast — Stromboli erupting on schedule like a lighthouse of lava, Salina's green calm, Panarea's whitewashed glamour. Island-hop by hydrofoil and pick your energy level; the archipelago has one for every mood.

🏛️ A Little History

Named for Aeolus, keeper of the winds, the islands supplied obsidian to the Neolithic Mediterranean and pumice to the world; UNESCO listed the whole archipelago for giving volcanology two of its fundamental eruption types — Strombolian and Vulcanian.

💡 Did You Know?

Stromboli has erupted more or less continuously for over two thousand years — sailors called it the Mediterranean's lighthouse — and evening boat trips watch the Sciara del Fuoco throw lava into the sea. Malvasia delle Lipari, the islands' honeyed wine, was Carthage's export three millennia ago.
